Suzanne Williams grew up in Saskatchewan and lived in Ontario where she attended Western University, worked and articled, before moving to the west coast in 1995.
Prior to joining Brown Henderson Melbye Suzanne worked for a BC Crown Corporation, Canada’s Department of Justice, a large national law firm (Vancouver office), an international child rights and development organization based at a university, and her own firm.
Suzanne prefers to help you problem solve your family law challenges in consensual dispute resolution such as collaborative law and mediation.
Suzanne has counselled a wide array of clients, and appeared before superior and appeal courts as well as tribunals. She was called to the Ontario bar in 1995 and the BC bar in 1996, received her law degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1993 where she was awarded the McNeil Sinclair award for outstanding oral advocacy, and has a Bachelor of Arts (honours) from the University of Western Ontario.
Suzanne devotes time to initiatives that advance the rights and well being of children such as authoring the Canadian Bar Association’s Child Rights Toolkit for lawyers, launching the BC Hear the Child Society’s Roster of child interviewers, and soon introducing the low bono/pro bono collaborative law model to Victoria. She has also been an invited speaker for the National Judicial Institute, Continuing Legal Education Society of BC, and Pacific Business and Law Institute among other forums.
