The rights of children are not always clear when parents separate and divorce.  At the recent Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) 53rd Annual Conference in Seattle. Suzanne Williams, retired BC Supreme Court Justice Donna Martinson Q.C. and Caterina Tempesta, a lawyer with Ontario’s Office of the Children’s Lawyer outlined the law on child rights and shared practice tips to help legal and mental health professionals better implement them in family law.  They are collaborating to develop a child rights Toolkit for Canadian Lawyers through the Canadian Bar Association as child rights arise whenever actions affect children.
