Kim Hudson – Legal Assistant
Kim graduated from a two-year legal assistant program at Grant McEwan Community College in Edmonton in 1988. She has lived and worked in Kelowna, Whitehorse, and Vancouver, before the “lure of the grandchildren” resulted in relocating with her husband to Victoria in 2015.
Kim’s work experience has been mainly in the area of family law, with some criminal and child protection experience. Kim also spent five years as a court recorder for the Yukon Territorial and Supreme Courts, where she attended various communities as a member of the “court party”. She has enjoyed the unique experience of flying across the Arctic Circle for court in Old Crow, Yukon Territory!
Leaving the Yukon in 2008, Kim spent two months in the warm Caribbean sunshine before returning to Canada and settling in Vancouver where she worked in family law for six and one-half years, relocating to Victoria after the birth of their second granddaughter. Kim began working for Brown Henderson Melbye in November 2015, where her strengths in the areas of proofreading and drafting affidavits are appreciated and utilized. One of her biggest pet peeves is badly drafted affidavits. Kim enjoys working closely with clients to put their position and perspective on paper in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
Kim enjoys spending time in her kitchen. She loves cooking and has recently taken an interest in baking and cake decorating. She is also a recipe tester for America’s Test Kitchen. Her “best holiday ever” was a two-week trip to France with a French Chef and a group of foodies, where she and her husband enjoyed touring southwest France, wine-tasting, and shopping the local markets. The group took over a catering kitchen and spent their evenings preparing meals under the tutelage of the Chef. “Too much fun!”
Outside of the kitchen, Kim enjoys being a Grandma, reading, playing darts, and is an avid curling fan.
