Julia Nowosielska – Legal Assistant
Julia was born in Montreal. Her father moved the family to Port Alberni in 1974 and she graduated from Alberni District Secondary School. She met her husband, a Victoria native, in 1988 and together they moved to Victoria in 1991.
Julia began her legal career with a clear desire to work in the area of family law. She enjoys dealing with people, and the personal side of family law, especially dealing with children and working towards what is best for them. After graduating from North Island College in Port Alberni with a Legal Secretary Certificate (as it was then called), she started her legal career working at a law firm in Parksville.
Julia moved to Victoria in 1991 and has been a family law legal assistant since that time. Julia started working at Brown Henderson Melbye in June 2004. She initially worked with Kay Melbye, and now works with Shauna Tucker.
She enjoys BHM’s supportive and team-based community. There is real team work, and people are always available to assist with any new legal career challenge. New family law information is shared amongst the entire BHM team. BHM keeps current by having communication flow through the office and making sure that everyone is kept up-to-date. There is always something new in this field! The legal assistants have regular assistants meetings in which they discuss new information as it becomes available.
When she is not at work in her legal career, Julia spends her time with her family and friends. Julia and her husband have a large blended family which includes six children and their spouses and many grand-children.
In her spare time Julia and her family enjoy traveling. They know Maui well, and have attended family reunions in different parts of Europe. Julia also likes camping, scrapbooking and card making.
