Catherine Gray – Legal Assistant
Before her Victoria move, Catherine Gray came to us from Manitoba. She grew up on a farm and moved to Winnipeg upon high school graduation. Having always loved law, she took a new paralegal program offered at Red River Community College. She knew immediately when studying family law that it would be her preferred career field. Upon graduating she worked in personal injury, real estate and family law and ultimately found her way to work for the same lawyer who had taught the family law course.
She later worked in the family department of a large corporate firm until going on a maternity leave that extended to 20 years, during which time she was raising three sons and working in the field of décor. With that chapter closing, Catherine returned to work in 2013 in her initially chosen career at a family law boutique firm.
With their youngest son graduating in 2017, Catherine and her husband decided to leave Manitoba behind for the warmer climate of Victoria. She is excited to join Brown Henderson Melbye as the law firm is highly regarded in their exclusive practice of family law. Catherine is a firm believer that a collaborative or mediated approach to family law is beneficial to families, and especially children. She was happy to learn that BC advocates “Hear the Child” reports to give children a voice during family proceedings. Catherine enjoys working with clients and likes to be of assistance to them as they navigate through their family matters, which can be an emotionally charged time.
Catherine likes to travel and enjoys hiking, biking, yoga, dining out, walking the dog and exploring all that Victoria has to offer, with her family. It is her mission in her spare time to find the best coffee bar in Victoria and acknowledges that this could keep her busy for quite some time.
