On March 3, 2018 our staff at Brown Henderson Melbye attended the Mad Hatter’s Ball, at the Fairmont Empress, which is a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club.
The fundraiser event is Alice in Wonderland themed, and includes costumes, games, silent and live auction items and live music and dancing. It was a night not to be missed.
Every year, the Boys & Girls Club touches the lives of countless children and youth in communities across the country, including right here in Victoria.
At the fundraiser, we learned about the impact that the organization has in our community, and the many programs that they provide to help kids build confidence, positive relationships, and life skills.
One of the most powerful moments of the night was hearing about the Boys & Girls Club’s mission to stop hunger in our children and youth. They recounted how they witness the hunger daily at their programs and camps and that it is often a secret which children do not wish to share. That is why the Boys & Girls Club serve nutritious meals at ALL of their programs. In fact in Victoria, they served over 30,000 meals and snacks to children and youth in last year alone.
As part of the live auction at the Mad Hatter’s Ball fundraiser, every person attending was given the opportunity to buy a backpack filled with nutritious food and recipe ideas which would be discretely provided to a child in need as part of one of the organization’s initiatives. The support for this program at this fundraiser was overwhelming.
We are proud to say that this is the second year we have supported this worthy fundraiser and we look forward to attending in the years to come.
