In previous years BHM has sponsored the Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island by taking part in their annual Bear Wear competition. This year, BHM is sponsoring the Foundation’s “A Not So Silent Night” event.
The event is taking place at the Grand Pacific Hotel from December 1st to 23rd for families to join-in on the holiday festivities. Families are invited to visit the Hotel Grand Pacific for some Cocoa and Cookies by donation in the Pacific Restaurant from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm every day (with Christmas carols on the weekend). Social media fans can take a photo with the large Woodland Wonderland display and share it on social media. Kids are invited to join in a colouring contest!
BHM also took part in this year’s annual Victoria Women’s Transition House Christmas Hamper Program. This program gives women, with or without children, who have needed and accessed their services in the past year, the opportunity to create a wish list of items that will help give them comfort and joy during the Holidays.
Perhaps especially at this time of year, with what can be a festive time for many people, the cold weather and lack of people to be festive with creates stress and extra needs for which organizations such as transition houses, the Children’s Health Foundation, the Food Bank, Salvation Army, and others need extra help. If everyone does something, our community will have a very merry Christmas.
